According to the Korean media thelec, the Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) took the lead in including the display industry as a support object of the "National High-tech Strategic Industry Competitiveness Strengthening and Cultivation Special Measures Law" (National Advanced Strategic Industry Special Law).

KDIA announced at the "Display Development Strategy Conference" held in Seoul yesterday that the Display Development Strategy Committee is an organization for industry-university-research institutes to jointly discuss display industry development strategies. It is composed of companies such as LG Display, Samsung Display, Jusung Engineering, Duksan Neolux, as well as academics and researchers such as the Korea Information Display Society and the Korea Electronics and Communications Research Institute.

KDIA said, "The committee plans to incorporate display industry support policies into the industrial policies announced after the new government takes office. In the past, opinions were collected through industry meetings, etc., but in the future, we plan to work hard to link the content of the council's discussions with government policy tasks. ".

The committee's top priority is to include the display industry in the National Special Law on Advanced Strategic Industries, which is scheduled to be implemented in August. KDIA said, "The recipients of the National Advanced Industry Special Law will be decided by the announcement of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Energy in October. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is also actively reviewing the inclusion of the display industry in the special law."

Previously, the display industry was not listed as a "national strategic technology" under the Special Tax Restriction Law last year. At that time, according to the "Special Tax Restriction Law", the objects of national strategic technical support were semiconductors, batteries and vaccines. Under the Special Tax Restriction Act, national strategic technologies are eligible for tax credits in the case of technological research and development or investment in facilities.

"In order to maintain the best display technology in the world, it is necessary to expand support for manpower training and to support the government for post-OLED technologies, long-term support for source technology development is necessary," the committee said.

Lee Dong-wook, full-time vice-chairman of KDIA, said, "The Korean companies with the world's best technologies can widen the gap with their competitors by commercializing advanced technologies, and the committee is a bridgehead where they can propose strategies for displaying industrial development."
